The mixer is the same integral part of kitchen, as well as the device for cooking. How to properly install the faucet in the kitchen so that it will please you for many years with trouble-free operation?
Not so long ago, scientists from one of the English universities conducted a series of studies and found out that the faucet installed in the average kitchen opens and closes about 100 times a day. At the same time, the amount of water flowing out of the tap reaches an average of 70 liters per day. Therefore, the key point in choosing a mixer is the wear resistance of its moving parts, simplicity and ease of use.
When choosing a faucet for the kitchen, try to avoid low-quality products, one simple rule works here, the more the faucet costs, the higher the quality of its assembly and the materials used in the production, and as a result, the longer it will last. In addition, a sudden breakdown of the faucet can lead to flooding of the apartment, which will cost much more than a high-quality kitchen faucet.
Almost everyone noticed that the faucet in the bathroom and in the kitchen have one fundamental difference. Namely, the design of the "spout" from which water flows, by the way, it is correct to call it a spout. The spout in the kitchen faucet is designed so that the use of the entire volume of the sink is as convenient as possible.
And so with the types of mixers and their choice, we figured out now let's go directly to the installation.
The sequence of actions when replacing a kitchen faucet:
We block the supply of hot and cold water using valves installed on the corresponding risers.
Open the taps of the mixer, thereby allowing the water to drain completely.
- Unscrew the flexible hoses from the fittings fixed on the supply pipe. To do this, you need an adjustable or wrench (13, 14) wrench.
- We unscrew the fixing screw, which is located under the sink, for convenience, you can highlight it with a flashlight. This operation is performed using a Phillips screwdriver.
- Remove the fixing washer (plate) and remove the tap and flexible hoses. Fastening nuts located at the end of the hoses should preferably be passed through the sink hole alternately.
- We clean the seat from dirt with cleaning agents, if necessary, you can use sandpaper.
- Connect the flexible hoses to the new faucet (usually new hoses are sold with a faucet).
- We install a gasket on the sink hole and pass flexible hoses through it.
- We install the second gasket under the fixing washer from the bottom of the sink. We fix the structure with a fixing screw, it is not worth tightening it to the end, you should first align the mixer, and only then finally tighten the screw.
- We connect flexible hoses to the supply pipes, observing the markings on the mixer - a pipe for hot water to a hot pipe, for cold to cold. After that, tighten the nuts with a wrench or adjustable wrench.
- By opening the shut-off valves on the risers, we resume the water supply. We check the new mixer for leaks.
Installing a faucet in the kitchen turned out to be not too difficult. Now your task is to monitor the new plumbing, properly care for it so that it lasts long enough. By the way, the maintenance of the mixer is relatively simple - it must, occasionally, be cleaned of dirt and limescale.
