The Lord is Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom(2 Corinthians 3:17)

The tales of the deeds and equal angelic life of the saints who shone forth in former ages seem implausible myths to the unbelievers of our time. But the Lord revealed to us an ascetic who is practically our contemporary. The life of St. Seraphim of Vyritsky is a new word about Christ's love, addressed to all believers and non-believers. It once again reminds the world, absorbed in the acquisition of temporary earthly goods, of the true purpose of a short human life- the salvation of an immortal soul for blessed Eternity. Today, for the people of God, the Monk Seraphim is one of the most beloved heavenly helpers and mentors.

2016 is the year of the 150th anniversary of the birth of this great prayer book and mourner of the Russian Land. I would like to offer the readers of the Russian People's Line a series of articles dedicated to the life and amazing exploits of the famous St. Petersburg merchant, who became the All-Russian old man-comforter and prophet.

By His indescribable mercy, the Lord vouchsafed me to prepare materials for the glorification of the Vyritsa elder. Blessings for work were received in 1995 from the elder Archpriest Nikolai Guryanov and Metropolitan John (Snychev) of St. Petersburg and Ladoga.

By that time, only the main milestones were known life path Seraphim of Vyritsky: a pious businessman and philanthropist - a monk of the Holy Trinity Alexander Nevsky Lavra - a deeply revered elder among the people, who possessed many spiritual gifts.

Accurate data relating to many life events, facts and dates were practically non-existent. The exact date and place of the monk's birth were not even known, because before accepting monasticism he destroyed all the documents relating to his previous life. Specific facts and dates regarding the merchant activities of the ascetic, his stay in the Alexander Nevsky Lavra and in Vyritsa were also absent.

As a result of five years of work in a number of archives and libraries, numerous meetings and conversations with living witnesses of the life and exploits of the saint, my book “Elder Hieroschemamonk Seraphim Vyritsky and the Russian Golgotha” was born, which served as the basis for the canonization of the elder Hieroschemamonk Seraphim (Muravyov) Vyritsky as a reverend for general church veneration at the Jubilee Bishops' Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000.

In total, I devoted more than 20 years to research and study of the life and deeds of the monk and his prayer-books. After the glorification of the elder, the book received the title "St. Seraphim of Vyritsky and the Russian Golgotha", and each new edition of it was supplemented with new information from the archives, testimonies of the pious children of the Russian Orthodox Church and rare illustrations. The continuation of the first book was the book "To Vyritsa to the Monk Seraphim."

The narrative basis of the books was the stories of the relatives of the ascetic and his spiritual children, with whom the elder shared his memories of his life in the world, including the years of his childhood and youth. All of them very responsibly and carefully treated each of their words: “I will answer for this before the Lord!” - so they anticipated their stories. Many of them could not talk without tears about their meetings with the monk, who in those touching moments was with us in spirit. Much of this evidence was captured on videotape.

We developed very warm relations with the relatives of the Reverend. The granddaughter of the elder, Margarita Nikolaevna Muravyova-Naboko (†2004), spent more than 30 years inseparably with Father Seraphim and knew such details of his life that no one else knew, and could not know. She was a living witness to a number of important events, she saw a lot with her own eyes, she knew a lot from the stories of the elder himself, the stories of the schema-nun Seraphim (Muravieva), who in the world was his wife, as well as people who knew the ascetic closely back in the pre-revolutionary years.

The relatives of the monk reverently preserved the holy memory of his life and deeds. Shrines, documents, photographs and memoirs were kept in the family archive - everything that was saved during the years of militant atheism. However, much has been irretrievably lost...

For several years, bit by bit, we restored with Margarita Nikolaevna and her daughter, Olga Danilovna, many pages from the life of the reverend. At the same time, I conducted research in archival and library funds, collected living testimonies about the life, exploits and miracles of the Vyritsk ascetic, which I received literally from the first mouth.

Many unknown important facts were established during conversations with relatives of the confessor Royal Family, St. Theophan of Poltava; Metropolitan Guriy (Yegorov) and his brother Hieromartyr Archimandrite Leo (Yegorov); Confessor Archpriest Alexy Kibardin, Confessor Archpriest Konstantin Titov and other church leaders. Testimonies were also provided by many close spiritual children of Patriarch Alexy (Simansky) and Metropolitan Nikolai (Yarushevich) - Elena Nikolaevna Sergievskaya, Claudia Georgievna Petrunenkova, Olga Yakovlevna Vinogradova and others.

Important information was provided by prominent St. Petersburg scientists - Mikhail Sergeyevich Favorsky, Tatyana Nikolaevna Alikhova, Alexander Sergeyevich Ivanov, Yuri Konstantinovich Gerasimov, daughter of Professor Mikhail Ivanovich Gramenitsky, Elena Mikhailovna Kuzmina and others.

Invaluable help in my work was rendered to me by communication with famous St. Petersburg pastors: Archpriest Alexy Korovin (†2005), Archpriest Vasily Ermakov (†2007), Archpriest John Mironov, Archpriest Viktor Golubev, Archpriest Boris Glebov, Archpriest Igor Mazur, Archpriest Nikolai Preobrazhensky, Archpriest Priest Vyacheslav Klyuzhev (†2006), as well as Abbess of the Gornensky Convent in Jerusalem Georgy (Shchukina) and Abbess of the Pyukhtitsky Assumption Convent Varvara (Trofimova) (†2011). Their testimonies are also placed on the pages of my book, and in total I managed to find and interview more than a hundred people who personally knew St. Seraphim of Vyritsky.

An extensive collection of spiritual, historical and documentary sources made it possible to lift the veil of time over the life of the saint and hear his prophetic voice.

I was prompted to begin a series of articles about the monk with his prophecies by the desire to show their special spiritual value for our contemporaries, for the main of these prophecies serve as a call for a sincere, repentant return of the people to God and the Orthodox faith.

Much has been said lately about the revival of Russia through new political and economic reforms. Authoritative scientific forums gather, socio-political clubs operate, putting forward various programs and projects.

Neither politics nor economics will help the revival of our earthly Fatherland if the most important thing is missing. For more than a thousand years, the Orthodox Russian people have lived by faith and the Church: only faith and the Church can save them. It was Orthodoxy that made Russia Russia!

“Russia must follow its own special path, not bowing to the world mammon and Western false values”, - so the great Vyritsky righteous taught.

He had an undoubted prophetic gift. Many living testimonies published on the pages of my books speak eloquently about this. It is extremely important to note that Father Seraphim did everything with prayer, striking his visitors with evangelical humility and love. His words are not predictions for the sake of predictions, but the testimonies of the Spirit, contributing to the familiarization of people with the truth of God, instructing them on the path of salvation. This permeated the whole life of the saint. Some of his prophecies have already been fulfilled, others are being fulfilled before our eyes...

Prediction by the Monk Seraphim of the patriarchal ministry to two future First Hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church; foresight in the 1920s of the approaching cruel persecution of the Church; the ascetic's prophecies about the coming Great Patriotic War and the victory of Russian weapons in it; prophecies about the coming revival of churches and monasteries in Russia, spoken in the bloody year of 1939; on the renaming of Leningrad to St. Petersburg (the elder himself always called the northern capital St. Petersburg); the religious procession predicted at the same time from the Kazan Cathedral to the Alexander Nevsky Lavra; prediction in 1945 of the monetary reform of 1961; the words spoken in 1948 about the forthcoming second acquisition of the holy relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov, which took place 43 years later; the foreknowledge by the Vyritsa ascetic of the death of Archpriest Alexy Kibardin 15 years after his own, the exact insight into the fate of many people and other predictions have now become indisputable facts.

Already during the years of service in the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, spiritual gifts received from the Lord began to clearly manifest themselves in Father Seraphim. People felt his spiritual power. A very significant episode is well known in church circles: “... At the end of 1927, Archbishop Alexy (Simansky), who then ruled the Novgorod diocese, came to the confessor of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra for advice and prayer. He was in disarray, as he was very afraid of another arrest and persecution for his noble origin. "Father Seraphim, wouldn't it be better for me to go abroad?" - asked the bishop. "Vladyka! And to whom will you leave the Russian Orthodox Church? After all, you will shepherd it! - followed by the answer of the old man . - Do not be afraid, the Mother of God Herself will protect you. There will be many grave temptations, but everything, with God's help, will be managed. Stay, please." Vladyka Alexy immediately calmed down and forever abandoned thoughts of going abroad. So Father Seraphim predicted to Archbishop Alexy his future ministry 18 years before his election to the patriarchate. The Lavra schemnik indicated to the future Patriarch and the term of his primatial service - 25 years.

The elder predicted the patriarchal ministry to another Primate. Archbishop Simeon (Yakovlevich) of Olomouc-Brno, who graduated from the Leningrad Theological Academy, where he studied on the same course with 17-year-old psalmist from Tallinn Alexei Ridiger, told about this in Prague in 2011 to the great-grandson of the Reverend Gennady Alexandrovich Muravyov.

Like other students of the academy, the future bishop came to Vyritsa to the elder for a blessing. This was in January 1948. At the end of a warm conversation, Father Seraphim literally struck the young man with the words that he would be an archbishop in the Czech Republic. Returning to Leningrad, Radivoj (that was the name of Vladyka Simeon in the world) told his fellow students about this. They cheered up: “I think you were surprised. We have a good old man. He told Lesha Ridiger that he would be a patriarch!..”

The words of the monk came true in 1990, when Metropolitan Alexy (Ridiger) of Leningrad and Novgorod was elected Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' at the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church. Radivoj, after graduating from the academy in 1953, returned to Prague, where in 1958 he married and was ordained a priest. For almost 40 years he served as rector of the Church of St. Prince Vladimir Equal to the Apostles in the spa town of Marianske Lazne in Western Bohemia.

In the fall of 1996, Father Radiva became a widower, after which he took monastic vows with the name Simeon. In 1998, he was consecrated as a bishop. The new Lord was then 72 years old! Soon he became the manager of the affairs of the Prague diocese, and in 2000 - the ruling bishop of the Olomouc-Brno diocese of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia. So, 50 years later, another prediction of the great Vyritsa elder came true.

Returning to the period of service of St. Seraphim in the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, it should be noted that he repeatedly gave his flock lessons of true humility and meekness. He was distinguished by constant reverence for the destinies of God. He brought his spiritual children to the same reverence and obedience to God: “The Almighty Lord governs the world, and everything that happens in it is done either by the grace of God, or by the permission of God. The fate of God is incomprehensible to man. The three holy youths in the cave of Babylon confessed God and truly believed that all the spiritual and civil calamities allowed on them and on the people of Israel were allowed according to the righteous judgment of God. Only such a view of the essence of everything that happens attracts the world into the soul, does not allow to be carried away by excitement, directs the mind's vision to Eternity and delivers patience in sorrows. Yes, and the sorrows themselves then seem short-term, insignificant and petty. Do not complain about the weight of the Cross, on the day of sorrow, tell your sorrow to the Lord, and He will comfort you.- the priest instructed in a quiet and soft voice, in which some special, warm notes always sounded.

After all, it was then, in 1926-27, that he predicted an unusual increase in open persecution of the Church of Christ, when all of Russia would turn into a large concentration camp, which happened after the priest moved to Vyritsa.

And now - at a time when crosses were thrown from the domes, monasteries and churches were destroyed by the thousands, when tens of thousands of clergy were languishing in camps and prisons, the Lord erected in Vyritsa a temple not made by hands, alive - the pure heart of Father Seraphim. In the terrible 1930s, when fierce persecutions fell upon the Russian Orthodox Church, far exceeding in strength the persecution of the times of Diocletian, when it seemed that the Church was on the verge of destruction, the light of the righteous God shone from Vyritsa all over Russia.

And what great courage and hope in God's mercy one had to have in order to write lines in that bloody time that foretell the Russian Church's rebirth and glory:

A thunderstorm will pass over the Russian Land,

The Lord will forgive the Russian people their sins.

And the Holy Cross of divine beauty

On the temples of God it will again shine brightly.

And the ringing of bells throughout our Holy Rus'

From sinful sleep to salvation will awaken.

The holy cloisters will be opened again,

And faith in God will unite everyone.

Hieroschemamonk Seraphim (Ants), circa 1939

These deeply prophetic verses were passed from mouth to mouth, distributed in lists, reached places of imprisonment and exile. In the midst of the Gethsemane night, which then swallowed up all of Russia, the lamp of living faith shone in Vyritsa, hope did not fade in people's hearts ...

During the years of bloody persecution, when it seemed that the Church was doomed to a quick and complete annihilation, Father Seraphim spoke about her coming revival - about the resumption of the then forbidden bell ringing, about the opening of the devastated churches of God and holy monasteries. The monk tirelessly reminded his numerous visitors of the promise of God about the invincibility of the Holy Orthodox Church through the gates of hell.

Elena Nikolaevna Sergievskaya, the wife of Sergei Petrovich Sergievsky, teacher and head of the journal fund of the library of the Leningrad Theological Academy, said: “Hieroschemamonk Seraphim Vyritsky was my mentor for more than twenty years, until his righteous death. Even as a child, my mother and I used to come to him for confession at the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, then went to Vyritsa ... The Lord endowed the Vyritsa ascetic with many spiritual gifts, and I was honored to repeatedly experience their power. Father Seraphim had a special gift of seeing what was happening in the distance. Once, when I was just approaching the father’s house, he said: “Open! They are coming to me,” and this applied specifically to me, which the elder himself later confirmed. Once he told me about the last times: “It will be terrible to live to see them! We, thank God, will not live, but the procession to the Lavra will go from the Kazan Cathedral ...”

In the 1930s, Hieroschemamonk Seraphim spoke more than once about the fact that the Lord could allow the Great and terrible war, which would turn the people to God. Maria Konstantinovna Titova, the daughter of the ever-memorable Archpriest Konstantin Sergeevich Titov, who served in the 1920s and early 1930s in the Resurrection Cathedral in the city of Luga, testified: “From the age of seven, I sang on the kliros of the Luga Olginskaya church. Then - in St. Petersburg. At first she sang in the Church of the Sign, and with its closure - in St. Nicholas Cathedral. Here I happened to meet and get acquainted with Pyotr Vasilyevich Molchanov. He was a pious Orthodox man.

Pyotr Vasilyevich worked in the field of supply and was the spiritual son of Father Seraphim. He told me a lot about the priest and once offered to go with him to Vyritsa. This was in 1939. The elder received us very warmly and blessed us. Indescribable light and divine love came from Father Seraphim. One look at him was enough for heavenly joy to enter the heart...

Unexpectedly, Pyotr Vasilyevich knelt before the elder and said: “Father! I came to you to ask for blessings,” after which he quietly added. “I want to offer my hand and heart to Mary.” This turn of events literally stunned me, because I didn’t expect anything like that. He not only did not give his blessing for marriage, but forbade even thinking about marriage.Further life showed that the perspicacious old man had every reason for this - at the very beginning of the Great Patriotic War Pyotr Vasilyevich Molchanov died at the front ... "

From the first days of the war, Father Seraphim spoke openly about the impending victory of Russian arms. Many residents of Vyritsa and its environs were aware of the patriotic activities of Father Seraphim. How many people at that troubled time came to repentance through the prayers of the ascetic, fervently turning to the Lord! After all, the elder inspired them so, firmly saying that the Lord would certainly grant victory to the Russian people if they were strengthened in the faith of their fathers.

The Romanian unit stationed in Vyritsa was commanded by German officers. They were informed about the prophecies of Father Seraphim, and soon uninvited guests came to the house on Pilny Prospekt. Batiushka tamed the aliens through the grace-filled help from Above. The elder immediately struck them with the fact that he spoke to them in good German - after all, when he was a merchant, he often visited Vienna and Berlin, cooperating with Austrian and German firms.

The captain, who was the head of the Vyritskaya team, asked Father Seraphim if the German units would soon march victoriously along Palace Square in St. Petersburg? The elder humbly replied that this would never happen. The Germans will have to leave in a hurry, and the questioner himself is not destined to return home, during the retreat he will lay down his head near Warsaw.

According to the stories of local residents captured by the Germans, whom the invaders tried to drive to Germany, this German officer really died in the area of the Polish capital, and the slaves were returned to their homeland. The prophetic words of Father Seraphim were also confirmed by a Romanian officer who also served in the Vyritsa team during the war. In 1980, he came to bow to the grave of the elder and, having searched for the local residents who remembered him, he told about the details of that retreat ...

In the post-war period, the elder helped with his prayers and practical advice to a great multitude of people. Someone found out about the missing, others, through the prayers of the elder, got a job, and still others received a residence permit and shelter. And - their immortal souls themselves received the right direction to salvation. The son of Professor S.S. Favorsky, Mikhail Sergeevich, recalling his meetings with the reverend, said amazing words: “Father Seraphim knew how to give Heavenly joy, which is why everything, even the most difficult sorrows, faded into the background, and a person wanted to experience this joy in the future. Indeed, " our residence is in Heaven"(Philippians 3:20) » .

The spiritual daughter of the elder, Vera Konstantinovna Berkhman, writes in her diary: “Someone with tearful, some with joyful faces come out of his cell. But these people are no longer the same as those who entered here - peace and tenderness shine in their eyes. "He advised," they report, "to pray as if for a living person. That means he's alive!" Share with each other his words, advice. From here they will come out as different people, with hope for the best, with hope for help from Above, with the decision to pray and endure ... "

Olga Georgievna Preobrazhenskaya, the native niece of the confessor of the Royal Family, St. Theophan of Poltava (Bystrov), said: “The war scattered all my relatives in different places, and the main thing for me was to find out something about their fate. The elder immediately said: “There will be sisters and brothers, but you won’t see your mother anymore ...” and promised to pray for me and all my relatives.

In 1946, my sisters Maria and Alexandra, who were in captivity, returned, and then my brother Vasily. Brother John arrived from Riga. Mom died in the Pskov region in 1943. Everything came true, as Father Seraphim foretold.”

For more than 60 years she labored at the church in honor of the Assumption Holy Mother of God in the village of Vnuto, Novgorod region, nun Anthony (Gavrilova). The monastic procession was predicted to her by the Monk Seraphim of Vyritsky. With reverence and joy, mother Antonia recalled her meetings with the great ascetic: “Father Seraphim seated us next to him and called Mother Seraphim, who was looking after him... Batiushka said to her: “Mother, look, a nun has come to us.” I look where the motherfucker is - nowhere. I look around, look around, and mother Seraphim smiles: "Why, the father said about you - a nun." - "Oh," - I was surprised, - so I'm not worthy. - "So you will go to the monastery? "- asks the father. And his voice is so wonderful - spiritual! "Yes, I'm a sinner ... I'm not worthy to go to the monastery," I say again. "Yes, we are all sinners," Father Seraphim answered, "but who repents, he will be a saint!".

Father Seraphim then spoke about the revival of specific monasteries - the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra, the Seraphim-Diveevsky Monastery, the Valaam Monastery and others. It is noteworthy that, predicting the restoration of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, the elder said that at first the state would return the Holy Trinity Cathedral to the Church as a parish church, and only then, after many years, the entire Lavra would be transferred to monastics. The priest also predicted that in time a monastery would also be founded in Vyritsa, and Leningrad would be renamed St. Petersburg again.

The monk said that the time would come when Orthodox radio stations would operate in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and a number of other cities of Russia, in the transmissions of which one could hear soulful edifications, prayers, and church hymns...

Elena Alexandrovna Komarova, the daughter of the spiritual son of Hieroschemamonk Seraphim Alexander Alexandrovich Smirnov, said: “A lot of absolutely incredible things at that time were heard by my parents from Father Seraphim back in the 30s. The elder predicted that the city on the Neva would return its first name. He also said that the time would come when prayers would be sung on the radio. Batiushka also spoke about the fact that by the end of the century the climate could change dramatically, and it would be hotter in St. Petersburg than in the south ... "

From the memoirs of Natalia Stepanovna Tikhonova - parishioners of the temple in honor of the Kazan Icon Mother of God Metochion of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Valaam Monastery in St. Petersburg, who visited the priest in 1945-1948: “I felt so good with him that I forgot about everything in the world! Father Seraphim consoled me greatly. He said that soon the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra would be opened, and then the entire Lavra would be handed over to the Church. Then I was surprised and said: “What are you, father! How is it? After all, now everything is broken, but blown up ...” The elder replied: “You don’t believe, but the time will come when they will begin to restore and open churches, monasteries, chapels ... When you go to the consecration of the Trinity Church in the Lavra, remember the wretched Seraphim - I will no longer be..."

The Favorsky family took care of Father Seraphim in the pre-war years. Mikhail Sergeevich shared his memories with undisguised excitement: “In early 1945, the whole family went to Vyritsa. It was universal rejoicing - again we saw the dear father, heard his marvelous velvety voice, received his holy blessing!

In the same year, due to negligence, I "failed" the entrance exams to the medical school and almost fell into despondency. Mom was very worried about me, and we immediately went to the elder. I still remember his words: “Don’t be upset, everything will be fine. next year You will do and still be a professor". The words of the monk turned out to be prophetic...

About the foresight, the extraordinary power of blessing, holy love and the gift of spiritual consolation that Father Seraphim possessed, Galina Ivanovna Raevskaya told: “In 1947, in St. Nicholas Cathedral, after reading an akathist, I was destined to meet a young man. Serezha was the son of a priest. We became friends. Once it was a bright frosty February day. We were free from studies and decided to go to Vyritsa, where we had never been ...

Batiushka lies on the bed, smiles and says to meet us: "Well, I bless you! You will live well, just give in to each other." He sat us down and began talking to us. He told how he was a Gostinodvor merchant, and then he left everything, and he and his mother left for the monastery. Then he says to Seryozha: "They will invite you to America - don't refuse." And he predicted a materially prosperous life for us. "What America?" - I wondered. Sergey had just come from the front and, apart from boots and an overcoat, he had nothing. But the priest repeated his words again and again ...

And my husband, a teacher, after 20 years began to sail on ships. And there was one day the wreck of their ship off the coast of America. And, indeed, I had a chance to visit and work there”.

And here is what Olga Yakovlevna Vinogradova, the spiritual daughter of Hieroschemamonk Seraphim, said: “I was with the elder on the day when he blessed two sisters, Valyusha and Nina, for monasticism. Subsequently, Valentina became abbess of the Gornensky monastery in Jerusalem, and Nina became a nun of the Pyukhtitsky monastery, mother Arsenia.

Then they came out of the father's house extremely joyful: "Olenka! Now we will go to Pyukhtitsa." I answered: "Girls! Wait, I will also go and bless. We will go together." I went into the cell, knelt down: "Father! Bless me to be saved in Pyukhtitsa. I know girls. We will go to your house together to be blessed" (At that time, Abbess of the Pyukhtitsky Monastery, Mother Rafaila, and the sisters of the monastery really wanted Father Seraphim to move to him in Pyukhtitsa and even built a special house for him).

However, to my great regret, the priest answered: “I don’t bless! You don’t fit into their regime because of your inner dispensation ... I bless you in Diveevo! It doesn’t matter that everything is closed there now. will be restored and the relics of St. Seraphim will rest there!"

What can I add to these words? It was then the post-war year of 1948. Before the second acquisition of the relics of our holy reverend father Seraphim of Sarov, there were 43 long years left ... And who in those days could believe that such a thing would ever happen! Such was the strength of the faith of the Vyritsky elder, and his gaze stretched forward for many, many years.

Tatyana Nikolaevna Alikhova is a geologist with a worldwide reputation: “For fifteen years, the elder predicted the monetary reform of 1961 to us, saying: “Then the French bun, which now costs 70 kopecks, will cost 7 kopecks, and so all products ...” The fate of St. located in a low swampy place and its flooding is always possible ... "

The story of Alexander Sergeevich Ivanov is another evidence of the extraordinary insight and miraculous power of the blessing of the Vyritsky elder. Alexander Sergeevich himself does not remember Father Seraphim, but he talks about the priest as about the closest and dearest person: “When I was less than two years old, my mother brought me to the great old man. This was at the beginning of 1949. Father looked at me and said: "This boy will be a medical scientist." And he blessed ... After 30 years, I defended my thesis for degree doctor of medical sciences".

From the memorandum of the rector of the Marienburg Church in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, Archpriest Peter Belavsky, to Archpriest Sergiy Rumyantsev, manager of the affairs of the Leningrad diocese: “... First of all, I express my deep gratitude to you for giving me the opportunity to perform the Liturgy and the funeral service for my dearly deceased father Alexy Kibardin, with whom I was connected by spiritual ties for almost forty years ... I would like to inform you about the prophetic words of the elder hieroschemamonk Seraphim Vyritsky, which came true over Father Alexy. Father Seraphim predicted to him that he would die after the death of the elder himself in 15 years. And on April 3, 1964, 15 years have passed since the death of Father Seraphim, and exactly 15 years later Father Alexy died.(from the archive of the St. Petersburg Metropolis).

There are many other facts that testify to the depth of the elder's insight into the events of the future. He said that only Russia could save mankind, and Vyritsa would become a place of worldwide pilgrimage, and eventually a monastery would be opened here.

Relatives and close spiritual children of St. Seraphim of Vyritsky noted that not everything was seen by the elder in rainbow colors. The following prophecy, the most important for the Orthodox, is clearly coming true before our eyes:

« The time will come when not persecution, but money and the charms of this world will turn people away from God, and many more souls will perish than in the days of open rebellion, - the reverend said - on the one hand - they will erect crosses and gild domes, and on the other - the kingdom of lies and evil will come. The true Church will always be persecuted, and it will be possible to be saved only by sorrows and illnesses. Persecution will take the most sophisticated, unpredictable character. It will be terrible to live up to these times. We, thank God, will not live, but then the procession to the Alexander Nevsky Lavra will go from the Kazan Cathedral».

It is appropriate to note here that, after an 85-year break, the First Procession from the Kazan Cathedral to the Holy Trinity Alexander Nevsky Lavra took place on September 12, 2002, on the day of memory of the Holy Right-Believing Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky, even before the city authorities officially allowed revive this tradition. Pious Christians then made this procession along the sidewalks of Nevsky Prospekt.

It is also easy to see that the realm of lies and evil that has engulfed the whole world has long since become a reality - it surrounds us, although the outward revival of the Church is still ongoing.

Indeed, persecution has assumed the most sophisticated and unpredictable character, especially against those Christians who do not want to participate in "in fruitless works of darkness"(Eph.5,10-11) - in the construction of a worldwide electronic concentration camp.

In a number of predictions of the Vyritsky elder, there are very disturbing notes. “If the Russian people do not come to repentance, - father said - it may happen that again brother will rise against brother.

Don't we see this today from the events that are taking place in the Donbass and the Luhansk region?

Several important predictions of St. Seraphim of Vyritsky were recorded by Maria Georgievna Preobrazhenskaya, niece of St. Theophan of Poltava:

“... It was right after the war. I sang in the kliros of the Peter and Paul Church in the village of Vyritsa. Often we with the singers from our church came to Father Seraphim for a blessing. Once one of the singers said: "Dear father! How good it is now - the war is over, the bells in the churches are ringing again..." And the elder replied: "No, that's not all. There will be more fear than before. you will meet Her again. It will be very difficult for young people to change their uniforms. Who will survive?(The monk repeated these words three times) But whoever remains alive - what a good life he will have ... "After a short pause, the priest again said thoughtfully:" If the people of the whole world, every single person(again, as if in a singsong voice, the elder repeated these words several times) , at the same time would kneel and pray to God for at least five minutes to prolong life, so that the Lord would give everyone time to repent ... ""

According to the way the situation in the world is being aggravated today, when the West took off the mask of a good uncle and exposed its bestial appearance, any turn of events to a new World War is possible.

Speaking about the prophecies, St. Ignatius Brianchaninov says: “God changed His decrees, announced and through the holy prophets, such as the prophecy of Jonah about the Ninevites(Jonah 3:10) ; Elijah about Ahab(1 Kings 21:29) ; Isaiah about Hezekiah(2 Kings 20:1-11) ... Whoever has given himself and everything to the will of God, he does not need to know anything in advance ”.

In all the cases mentioned by Saint Ignatius, God changed anger to mercy after individuals or whole nations humbled themselves before Him, forsook the life of sin and embarked on the path of repentance. It all depends on what choice people make themselves.

Back in the 20s of the 20th century, Father Seraphim edified all those striving to know the will of God: “Now the time has come for repentance and confession. The Lord Himself determined the punishment for the Russian people for sins, and until the Lord Himself has mercy on Russia, it is senseless to go against His holy will. A gloomy night will cover the Russian Land for a long time, much suffering and sorrow awaits us ahead. Therefore, the Lord teaches us: “By your patience save your souls.”(Luke 21:19) . We can only trust in God and beg His forgiveness. Let us remember that "God is love"(1 John 4:16) and hope for His unspeakable mercy…”

"Then,- taught the great old man, - only by resigning themselves to the will of God, which is sometimes revealed to people precisely in severe sorrows, illnesses and persecutions, can they come to know their own weakness and gain a desire for grace-filled help from Above. Only in this way are born true faith, hope and prayer, done from the heart in the consciousness of one’s own insignificance, the one that never remains unanswered and moves mountains ... "

Everything shows that the punishment of God for the apostasy of the Russian people is still in effect. The moral state of modern society, in which the Antichrist spirit of this world reigns, causes great sadness and anxiety. There is no doubt that the world is rapidly approaching its formidable and inevitable end, and Russia is being strongly drawn into building a single global kingdom on the terms of its geopolitical opponents. Russia's internal enemies are succeeding in destroying the traditional Orthodox worldview and attitude, persistently imposing the cult of earthly goods, pleasures and permissiveness, promising a new "bright future" - "electronic heaven on earth", which will turn out to be a living hell.

It is quite obvious that no political, economic and "technological" reforms, or any other earthly means, will save Russia. The revival of Russia is possible only through a return to the life-giving source of the Orthodox faith.

What other shocks are needed for the Russian people to wake up from a deep spiritual sleep and come to repentance!?

The Lord endowed the Monk Seraphim of Vyritsky with many blessed revelations. Describing one of his spiritual contemplations, the ascetic told the nun Seraphim (Morozova):

“I have been to all countries. Better than our country, I have not found and better than our faith, I have not seen. Our faith is above all. This is the Orthodox faith, the true faith. Of all the known creeds, it alone was brought to earth by the incarnated Son of God. I ask you, mother Seraphim, to tell everyone that no one deviates from our faith ... "

The great Vyritsky elder has repeatedly said that Russia has a priceless treasure - it is the guardian of the Holy Orthodox Faith. True enlightenment is the enlightenment of the soul with the light of Orthodoxy. Not the prosperous West, where the ultimate goal of all things is the earthly well-being of man, but Rus', blessed Rus', which in its infancy accepted the foolishness of the Cross, preserved in the depths of its immense soul the image of Christ Crucified and carries it in its heart, is the true light of the world. That Holy Rus', which has always lived with a premonition of what is above, first of all sought the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and was in living communion with Heaven.

The eternal strength and beauty of Orthodoxy lies in the wonderful unity of heaven and earth. In Russia, the sky was inseparable from the earth: “The Holy Man of Rus' always knew what the eternal meaning of life was, and the main goal for him was the acquisition of Heavenly blessings”- Rev. Seraphim reminded his pets more than once.

The life of the Vyritsky ascetic is a whole epoch in the life of Russia. For several decades, the most significant events in the life of Russian society took place before the eyes of the elder, which found a lively response in his pure heart. Father Seraphim walked his earthly path, firmly knowing that outside of Orthodoxy there is no salvation, no Resurrection and immortality. “Only God never forget! Keep the holy truths of the Orthodox faith, love our Lord Jesus Christ with all your heart!- neighbors often heard these words from the lips of the blessed elder.

I hope that the materials offered to respected readers will help them in the most important thing - in the knowledge of Christ in His saints. I hope that the Lord will touch your hearts with His Love. And together with Father Seraphim, I wish everyone salvation in an imperishable and endless life. Earthly is temporary, Heavenly is eternal!

Details of how the materials and evidence for my books about St. Seraphim Vyritsky were collected, as well as little-known information about him, can be found at.

V.P. Filimonov , Russian writer-hagiographer, author of the Life of St. Seraphim of Vyritsky and other books about the saints of the Russian Land

Hieroschemamonk Seraphim Vyritsky warned about the future power of China: “When the East gains strength, everything will become unsustainable. The number is on their side, but not only that: they have sober and hardworking people, and we have such drunkenness ... ”.

“There will come a time when Russia will be torn apart. First they will divide it, and then they will begin to rob wealth. The West will in every possible way contribute to the destruction of Russia and give its eastern part to China before the time comes. The Far East will be taken over by the Japanese, and Siberia by the Chinese, who will move to Russia, marry Russians, and, in the end, by cunning and deceit, take the territory of Siberia to the Urals ... ”When China wishes to go further, the West will oppose and won't allow. Many countries will take up arms against Russia, but she will stand, having lost most of her lands.

Several predictions of Father Seraphim Vyritsky were recorded by Maria Georgievna Preobrazhenskaya, niece of St. Theophan of Poltava: “... It was immediately after the war. I sang in the kliros of the Peter and Paul Church in the village of Vyritsa. Often we with the singers from our church came to Father Seraphim for a blessing. (Father Seraphim repeated these words three times). But whoever remains alive - what a good life he will have ... ". After a short pause, the priest again said thoughtfully: “If the people of the whole world, every single person (again, as if in a singsong voice, the elder repeated these words several times), at the same time would kneel down and pray to God though if only five minutes about prolonging life, so that the Lord would give everyone time for repentance ... ".

Reverend Father Kuksha(Velichko, 1875-1964): “Just as in his time John the Baptist preceded the Son of God in order to prepare his ways, so in our time the Preceding Antichrist was born, I had a vision about that. O dear sisters, such times are coming that no one wants to live in this world. And it's already on the edge. One grief has passed, and another has passed, and there must soon be a third. God, terrible misfortunes are coming to earth: famine, war, sorrow and destruction. The time is near, at the very edge. Do not listen to anyone who says there will be peace. There is no peace and never will be. War will follow a terrible spiritual famine. And all will be sent to the East, both men and women, and none of them will return, all will perish there. A terrible doom will be sent from the Lord, and whoever survives the famine will perish from the plague and pestilence, and there will be no cure for this infection.

Archpriest's prediction Vladislav Shumov from the village of Obukhovo, Solnechnogorsk district, Moscow region (October 1, 1996): “Father Vladislav often told his spiritual children about what awaits them in the near future. He warned about the upcoming events in Russia:

Cards will be introduced in Moscow, and then famine.

The earthquake in Moscow will be big. Six hills in Moscow will turn into one.

And the elder Vladislav bequeathed to the villagers:

No one needs to move from their seats; where you live there o stay.

When Patriarch Pimen reposed, the parishioners wrote down his name in commemoration books: “for repose.” But after the service, it turned out that the name of Patriarch Pimen had been crossed out by Father Vladislav from all these funeral synodikons and entered "on health." The elder explained:

For Patriarch Pimen, you need to pray "for health": he is alive! ..

Elder Vladislav also did not bless the pilgrims to travel to Diveevo. He told them:

- Do not go to the monastery in Diveevo now: the relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov are not there!

Father Vladislav did not bless Christians to take vouchers, and later plastic cards. The Elder did not say anything about the TIN.

Father Vladislav warned the Russian people about the many dangers awaiting everyone on the path to God:

“Yes, there will still be persecution of the Orthodox Faith!”

- In Russia, the communists will still come to power ...

“As soon as you find out that such and such a priest has been driven out of the church, cling to him for the duration of the persecution.

Father Vladislav also predicted future events in world history:

Japan and America will sink together.

All of Australia will be flooded too.

“The ocean will flood America all the way to Alaska. The same Alaska, which will again be ours.

Shortly before his death, a layman Anatoly K. was admitted to the cell of the Elder Vladislav, who at first thought that Father was delusional. But when he clearly heard the words of Elder Vladislav - "... a nuclear strike on America! ..", he realized that the far-sighted Father at that time was contemplating the coming apocalyptic events.

Father Vladislav also said:

- There will be such a war in Russia: from the west - the Germans, and from the east - the Chinese!

— The southern half of China will be flooded by the waters of the Indian Ocean. And then the Chinese will reach the city of Chelyabinsk. Russia will unite with the Mongols and drive them back.

- When China goes to us, then there will be a war. But after the Chinese conquer the city of Chelyabinsk, the Lord will convert them to Orthodoxy.

- The war between Russia and Germany will begin again through Serbia.

- Everything will be on fire! .. Great sorrows are coming, but Russia will not perish in the fire.

- Belarus will suffer greatly. Only then will Belarus unite with Russia... But then Ukraine will not unite with them; and then a lot more to cry!

The Turks will again fight the Greeks. Russia will help the Greeks.

“Afghanistan is in for an endless war…

Elder Vladislav spoke about what all these events would inevitably lead to:

The instructions and prophecies of the ninety-four-year-old elder Vladislav were recorded on September 30, 2000, on the eve of his memory day by people who personally knew him. Archpriest Vladislav Shumov was buried opposite the altar of the Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God in the village of Obukhovo, Moscow diocese.

Schemaarchimandrite Seraphim(Tyapochkin) from the village of Rakitnoye predicts the future development of events in Russia in this way (1977): “During a memorable conversation, a young woman from a Siberian city was present. The elder said to her: “You will accept martyrdom at the hands of the Chinese in the stadium of your city, where they will drive the Christian inhabitants and those who disagree with their rule.” This was an answer to her doubts about the words of the elder that almost all of Siberia would be captured by the Chinese. The elder claimed that the future of Russia was revealed to him, he did not name dates, he only emphasized that the time for the fulfillment of what was said was in the hands of God, and much depends on how the spiritual life of the Russian Church will develop, how strong faith in God will be among Russian people, what will be the prayer feat of believers. The elder said that the collapse of Russia, despite the apparent strength and rigidity of the authorities, would happen very quickly. First, the Slavic peoples will be divided, then the union republics will fall away: the Baltic, Central Asian, Caucasian and Moldavia. After that, the central power in Russia will weaken even more, so that the autonomous republics and regions will begin to separate. More collapse will follow: the authorities of the Center will no longer actually recognize individual regions that will try to live independently, and will no longer pay attention to decrees from Moscow. The biggest tragedy will be the capture of Siberia by China. This will not happen by military means: due to the weakening of power and open borders, the Chinese will begin to move to Siberia in droves, buying up real estate, enterprises, and apartments. Through bribery, intimidation, agreements with those in power, they will gradually subjugate the economic life of cities. Everything will happen in such a way that in one morning the Russian people living in Siberia will wake up ... in the Chinese state. The fate of those who remain there will be tragic, but not hopeless. The Chinese will brutally crack down on any attempt at resistance. (That is why the elder predicted the martyrdom at the stadium of the Siberian city of many Orthodox and patriots of the Motherland). The West will promote this creeping conquest of our land and support China's military and economic power in every possible way out of hatred for Russia. But then they will see the danger to themselves, and when the Chinese try to military force seize the Urals and move on, will prevent this by all means and may even help Russia in repelling the invasion from the East. Russia must endure in this battle, after suffering and complete impoverishment, she will find the strength to rise in herself. And the coming revival will begin in the lands conquered by the enemies, among the Russians who remained in the former republics of the Union. There, the Russian people realize what they have lost, realize themselves as citizens of that Motherland that still lives, wish to help it rise from the ashes. Many Russians living abroad will help restore life in Russia ... Many of those who can escape persecution and persecution will return to their original Russian lands to fill abandoned villages, to cultivate neglected fields, to use the remaining undeveloped subsoil. The Lord will send help, and, despite the fact that the country will lose the main deposits of raw materials, they will find on the territory of Russia both oil and gas, without which a modern economy is impossible. The elder said that the Lord would allow the loss of vast lands granted to Russia, because we ourselves could not use them worthily, but only polluted, spoiled ... But the Lord will leave behind Russia those lands that became the cradle of the Russian people and were the basis of the Great Russian state. This is the territory of the Grand Moscow Principality of the 16th century with access to the Black, Baltic and North Seas. Russia will not be rich, but it will still be able to feed itself and force itself to be reckoned with. To the question: “What will happen to Ukraine and Belarus?” The elder replied that everything was in the hands of God. Those who in these nations are against an alliance with Russia - even if they consider themselves believers - become servants of the devil. At Slavic peoples one fate, and the reverend Fathers of the Kiev Caves will still say their weighty word - they, together with the host of the New Martyrs of Russia, will beg for a new Union of three fraternal peoples. Another question was asked about the possibility of restoring the monarchy in Russia. The elder replied that this restoration must be earned. It exists as a possibility, not as a predestination. If we are worthy, the Russian people will choose the Tsar, but this will become possible just before the accession of the Antichrist or even after it - for a very long time. a short time". From the article by Alexander Nikolaev "Memories of the Future".

Visions of a father Anthony(website Temples of the Satka region, Chelyabinsk diocese). Teachings, prophecies: “It was difficult to accept this in those years of apparent Soviet prosperity, I did not think then that I would live to see the years of fulfillment of much of what I saw ...

First of all, all kinds of technical catastrophes - the system of existence created by man, in fact, satanic, because it absolutely contradicts the laws of God, will begin to break down. Planes will fall, ships will sink, nuclear power plants and chemical plants will explode. And all this will be against the backdrop of terrible natural phenomena that will occur throughout the earth, but especially strongly - in America. These are hurricanes of unprecedented strength, earthquakes, severe droughts and, conversely, flood-like downpours. A terrible monster, modern Sodom - New York will be wiped off the face of the earth. Gomorrah - Los Angeles will not remain without retribution.

It seems that it will be difficult to find a place on earth where a person would feel calm, in complete safety. The peace of man will be only in the hope of God, the earth will no longer give him protection. Enraged nature threatens the cities with the most terrible consequences, for they have completely broken away from it. One destruction of the Tower of Babel, a modern house, and hundreds of people buried without repentance and communion, hundreds of dead souls. These houses, built on piles, are like arrows that pierce the earth, as if striving there, to hell, and they will bring people a hellish death under the rubble. And the one who remains alive will envy the dead instantly, for his fate is even worse - death from hunger and suffocation.

Cities will be a terrifying sight. Even those that avoid total destruction, deprived of water and electricity, heat and food supply, they will resemble huge stone coffins, so many people will die. Gangs of bandits will endlessly commit their atrocities, even during the day it will be dangerous to move in the city, but at night people will gather in large groups in order to try to live together until morning. Sunrise, alas, will not herald the joy of a new day, but the grief of the need to live this day.

Do not think that peace and prosperity will reign in the countryside. Poisoned, disfigured, incinerated by drought or flooded with heavy rains, the fields will not produce the required harvest. There will be an unprecedented loss of livestock and people, unable to bury the animals, will leave them to decompose, poisoning the air with a terrible stench. The peasants will suffer from the attacks of the townspeople, who, in search of food, will disperse through the villages, ready to kill a person for a piece of bread! Yes, there will be bloodshed for that piece, which now does not go down their throats without seasonings and sauces. Cannibalism will become commonplace, having accepted the seal of the Antichrist, humanity will erase all the boundaries of morality. For the villagers, the night is also a period of special fear, because this time will be with the most cruel robberies. And you need not only to survive, but also to save property for work, otherwise starvation also threatens. The people themselves, as in the city, will also be the objects of hunting. From the side it will seem that antediluvian times have returned. But no. At that time, the Word of God dominated the world: “Grow and multiply.” Now the very life of mankind and its essence is directed towards the rejection of both the grace and providence of God. But this is not the end yet...

The eve of the coming of the Antichrist is chaos in the life of almost all countries. In prosperity will be those who, by virtue of their religion, are waiting for the coming of the False Messiah. First of all, these are Jews and Muslims. Behind them are those Protestants who, denying the divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ, preach the kingdom of God on earth. The strengthening of their influence is already visible, further will be more. The main thing now for them is to take possession of the land. Everything will be secretly bought up - forests, fields, and rivers. Siberia will fall under the Chinese, maybe more will be pulled out ...

The whole life of the last time is one continuous misfortune and pain. And here it is not so important who exactly is guilty, this or that, by no means. The sinful life itself is already a catastrophe. The more “civilized” the place where people live, the more horrors will happen from technical and natural apocalyptic injustices. I saw modern Sodom - New York on fire, an infernal furnace, ruins and innumerable victims. But are they victims? The sacrifice is always pure, the defiled died there, who did not preserve their purity, rejected the Truth and plunged themselves into the abyss of human, consider, demonic superstitions. They, who are trying to create a new semblance of the Tower of Babel, a kind of prosperous state without God, outside of His law, will be the first victims of it. The victims of their rulers, moreover. As one of the steps to world domination, the authorities will bring the lives of their compatriots to the altar of Baals. These authorities, consisting of people who profess Judaism degenerated into Satanism, in anticipation of the False Messiah, the Antichrist, will go to any lengths to cause wars and tragedies of world significance.

But the fire and destruction from it is not the end, but only the beginning. For the initial fire and the destruction of the Babylonian towers of modern times by an explosion are the work of human hands, albeit with the permission of God. This atrocity, as a particularly grave sin, will also cause natural disasters. An explosion in the sea will produce huge wave that will flood the New Testament Sodom. Gomorrah will soon be subjected to destruction from terrible sea storms, from water ...

France, this cradle of debauchery and fornication, of resistance to God, will experience all the horrors of rejection from God. Sea storms and earthquakes, shipwrecks that will bring death to all living things both on the coast and on land, this is what awaits the homeland of revolutions.

The capital of the "new world" will not be New York or Washington, they will simply disappear. Jerusalem will become the center of the universe, it will be another attempt to take over the world through the spiritual pressure of the temple, within the walls of which everyone except the Jews are goyim, something less valuable than cattle, but better than wood and stone. And this attempt will be successful. In the old "center" they will shoot, blow up, in general, terrify the inhabitants. But this will also be used to convince everyone and everything of the need for complete control over people.

But the time will come when every minute for the faithful will feel like a year, a whole life, so many horrors will be around. And the clock is still ticking the same seconds, minutes, hours...

There will be no England, the island will go into the sea, burdened with an ocean of sins, sinful betrayals of God. Sin, as the wrong way, the way of delusion. Also waiting for the despot of the East - Japan. Their clocks will also continue to count human time, but for the inhabitants it has already been stopped. Their hope in reason and its possibilities has already overflowed the biggest cup of patience. Earthquakes and sea waves will destroy the islands of wickedness, the new Babylon of idolatry of the fallen nature of man.

“Father Anthony,” I interrupted the elder, “and India, China, other countries, what will be their fate?”

“Father, you are not talking to the Determinant of Fates, but only to His pitiful reflection. How can one speak with accuracy about the fate of entire nations?! You can only say what was revealed, but remember, again, the offended prophet. The destiny of all will be one - the Last Judgment. And before him...

China will overwhelm most of Russia, of course, Ukraine is part of it. Yellow will be all the lands beyond the mountains and after them. Only the power of the faithful Andrei, his great descendant Alexander and the closest shoots from their root will be preserved. What stands, will stand. But even this does not mean that the Russian Orthodox state will be preserved within the limits of the rule of the Antichrist, no. The name may remain, but the way of life will no longer be Great Russian, not Orthodox. A completely non-Russian beginning will dominate the life of the Orthodox inhabitants in the past.

The yellow invasion is not the only one. There will be a black invasion - hungry Africans stricken with incurable diseases will fill our cities and villages. And it will be much, much worse than what is happening now because of the dominance of immigrants from the Caucasus, Central Asia ... Although these people will not leave you with their attention - their number will grow. They will willingly accept everything that is offered to them for lentil soup: they will enter the united "church", they will accept the Antichrist ... ".

“Father, if it’s about the wilds, then in the North of Russia, Siberia, there are much wilder places. Isn't there a better shelter there?" I asked.

“Siberia will be “yellow”, completely. The Far East is Japanese, but for Siberia, for its oil and gas, gold, etc., all the battles will not even be with ours, but with the Americans. Even though the star-striped club is in the hands of world Zionism, they will not be able to defeat the Chinese. And yellow rivers will flow to European Rus'. The whole south will burn, Slavic blood will spill!

The Japanese will not give the Far East to the Chinese - the islanders will simply have nowhere to live. The Japanese know about the coming tragedy of their islands: it was revealed to them through the sages. Now they are buying up land, but the Far East of Russia looks like the most tasty morsel for them…”.

Schieeromonk Aristocles of Athos(1917-18): “Now we are living through the time before Christ. The judgment of God over the living has begun and there will not be a single country on earth, not a single person who will not be touched by this. It started with Russia, and then further ...

And Russia will be saved. Lots of pain, lots of pain. It is necessary to suffer much and much and to repent deeply for everyone. Only repentance through suffering will save Russia. All of Russia will become a prison, and one must beg the Lord for forgiveness a lot. Repent of sins and be afraid to commit even the slightest sins, but try to do good, even the smallest. After all, even the wing of a fly has weight, but God has accurate scales. And when the smallest thing outweighs goodness in the cup, then God will show His mercy over Russia ...

When the smallest thing outweighs goodness, then God will show His Mercy over Russia. But first, God will take away all the leaders, so that the Russian people look only at Him. Everyone will abandon Russia, other powers will abandon it, leaving it to itself. This is so that Russian people trust in the help of the Lord. Hear that riots will begin in other countries and similar to what you will hear about wars in Russia and there will be wars - but wait until the Germans take up arms, for they are chosen by God not only as an instrument of punishment for Russia, but also as a weapon of deliverance Same. By the command of God, the Germans will enter Russia and save her, but they will not stay in Russia and will go to their own country. Then, within 5 years, Russia will achieve prosperity and power more than before. The end of Russia's troubles will be through China. There will be some unusual explosion, and the Miracle of God will appear. And there will be a completely different life on earth, but not for a very long time. The Cross of Christ will shine over the whole world, because our Motherland will be exalted and will be like a beacon in the darkness for everyone.”

Prophecies about the future of Russia. Hieromonk Seraphim Vyritsky

Hieromonk Seraphim Vyritsky (Vasily Nikolaevich Muravyov in the world) is a secret person. Sometimes you can find references that during the war years he repeated the feat of the Reverend Seraphim of Sarov - he stood on a stone for a thousand days and nights, begging for victory.

By the grace of God, AS Igovskaya sent me her memories of him. “Father Seraphim Vyritsky was a merchant. When the rout of the monastics of the city of Petrov came, on the night of February 18, 1932, he was already an elder of about seventy. He entered monasticism with his wife, already having one son. Husband and wife went to monasteries under the influence and blessing of Father Barnabas of Gethsemane.

Name about. Seraphim in Holy Baptism was Basil, and in tonsure he took the name of Barnabas. His wife was tonsured with the name of Christina. Father Varnava entered the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in St. Petersburg, and his wife entered the Novodevichy Convent in the same city. Their son married, and gave his daughter to a monastery under the guidance of a grandmother. This girl was of extraordinary beauty and wore the uniform of a novice in the monastery with a headdress adopted in this monastery.

Father Barnabas worked behind a candle box. When, after the assassination of Metropolitan Veniamin, churches began to be taken away from the Lavra in order to preserve the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, they began to serve in it in the winter as well. The cathedral was not heated. The cold there was terrible. The candle box was located near the entrance doors, and Fr. Barnabas caught a cold for the rest of his life: intercostal neuralgia. He could neither stand nor lie down, but only sit reclining in an armchair. So he “sat” for 17 years.

When they came to him in his cell to arrest him, they could not "take" him. He was the only one not taken away from the monastics that night. The next morning, admirers hastily took him to Vyritsa in a passenger car. And the authorities "forgot" about him. Father was placed in private dacha. On the top floor lived two old ladies. In the lower - Father and m. Khristina. She was not arrested, since since Fr. Barnabas fell ill, lived in his cells and looked after him. They didn't take her. And in Vyritsa they lived quietly until the death of Batiushka. When the Germans occupied Vyritsa in the first days of August 1941, they also did not cause the Elder the slightest violence. In Vyritsa, a family of summer residents, admirers of the Elder, also fell “under the Germans”. At that time Fr. Barnabas long ago, from the beginning of the illness that chained him to the chair, accepted the schema with the name Seraphim.

Batiushka was sagacious and told his visitors their future for many years to come. He announced the date of the end of the war, and whose victory would be, and spoke about this to many. Then not everyone liked it, as some expected the Germans to be released from the "Babylonian captivity." But Father knew the will of God...

When the Novodevichy Convent was closed, Father's granddaughter, Margarita, returned home. Her further fate is unknown, but before the war she visited Vyritsa.

The area around the cottage about. Seraphim was a corner of an untouched pine forest, and on one pine, at the direction of the Father, an icon of the Monk Seraphim was arranged. Batiushka called this corner "Sarov" and sent visitors to pray to this pine tree with the image of the Reverend. Batiushka also managed to preserve a wonderful image of St. Blessed Prince. Alexander Nevsky with a particle of his relics, which used to be in the cathedral. When the temple at the Theological Academy was opened, this icon was transferred from Vyritsa to it, and after, when the Lavra Trinity Cathedral was opened, it was transferred there. Now she is on that elevation, where the relics of St. are good. prince.

Personally, Father Seraphim predicted my future for me 23 years before his prophetic words came true. I went to the Elder as to the sun, in the midst of the darkness of the languor of those years. Around - untouched pine forest; aroma, silence, no crowds; as if time had stopped. Batiushka was affectionate, almost tender, and somehow surprisingly resembled the Reverend Seraphim. He died in 1949. I was in the Yakutsk camps; they wrote to me. He died on April 3, and was buried on the Annunciation. So many people gathered for the burial that there were not enough trains. People did not leave the station in Petrograd, they demanded additional trains, and they were given! It was not a funeral, but a city-wide great, victorious celebration!..” (December 1991)

Mother Khristina (Olga Ivanovna Muravyova, nee Naydenova) reposed in the Lord as schema-nun Seraphim in 1945. She is buried in the village. Vyritsa near the Kazan Church, where he served about Alexy Kabardin, famous for baptizing the royal children and being their confessor, for which he received a term, but still survived, got out. Granddaughter of Serafima Margarita Nikolaevna is now over 70 years old.

Once a spiritual son asked the Elder a question about the future of Russia. “There will come a time,” he answered, “when there will be an extraordinary flowering in Russia. Many churches and monasteries will open, even foreigners will come to us to be baptized. But this is not for long, for 15 years, then the Antichrist will come.”

Nun Taisiya. Hieromonk Seraphim // St. Petersburg Diocesan Gazette. 1990, no. 1-2, p. 35

Vyritsa is a wonderful village, spread out on the banks of the Oredezh River to the south of St. Petersburg. Once it was part of the Wittgenstein estates, then it became a favorite summer cottage for St. Petersburg residents. The writer and philosopher Vasily Vasilyevich Rozanov liked to relax here. Paleontologist and philosopher Ivan Efremov was born here. Here the great prayer book and mourner of the Russian land Elder Seraphim spent the last nineteen years of his life, in 2000 canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church as a saint.

In the world, his name was Vasily Nikolaevich Muravyov. He was born on March 31, 1866 in the village of Vakhromeevo, Arefinsky volost, Rybinsk district, Yaroslavl province, in the family of pious Orthodox Christians Nikolai Ivanovich Muravyov and his wife Khioniya Alimpyevna. From childhood, Vasily showed remarkable abilities - he independently learned to read and write and mathematics. His first books were the Gospel and the Psalter, the Lives of the Saints. A role model for the future is the desert hermits Macarius the Great, Mary of Egypt, Pachomius the Great, Paul of Thebes, Anthony the Great.

The Muravyovs often traveled to the holy places of Russia, and everywhere the young man strove to see the life he dreamed of by reading hagiographic literature.

After the premature death of his father, Vasily took on the burden of caring for the family. In St. Petersburg, he got a job as a messenger in one of the shops of Gostiny Dvor, worked diligently and sent almost all the money to his family. He dreamed of a monastic feat, but this dream was destined to come true only forty years later. The young merchant often traveled from the northern capital to the capital and always visited the Gethsemane Skete of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, where the elder Barnabas (Merkulov), who became his spiritual father, lived. In 1890, with the blessing of the elder, Vasily Muravyov got married. He was destined to live with Olga Ivanovna for thirty years.

Soon, twenty-six-year-old Vasily Nikolayevich opened his own business - a fur trade office. And very quickly became one of the five main fur traders of St. Petersburg. At the same time, the strictest, almost monastic charter of Orthodox life was observed in his family! Does this happen among modern businessmen? ..

God gave the Muravyovs their son Nikolai, then their daughter Olga, but when Olga died in infancy, Vasily Nikolayevich and Olga Ivanovna decided from now on to live as brother and sister, in some secret monasticism.

The Muravyovs celebrated all Orthodox holidays in their own way: they laid plentiful tables at home and invited the poor to a meal. Fur trader Muravyov generously gave gifts to monasteries and churches, almshouses and hospitals.

The glorification of Seraphim of Sarov made a special impression on Vasily Nikolaevich. He has long revered the elder Seraphim, besides, he came from a merchant family and in his youth was also engaged in trade.

The spiritual father of the Muravyovs, Elder Barnabas, died in 1906, and before his death gave the spouses a blessing to eventually take monastic vows. At the same time, Vasily Muravyov's friendship began with Archimandrite Veniamin (Kazansky), the future Metropolitan of Petrograd of Gdov, a holy martyr. He became the spiritual mentor of Vasily Nikolaevich.

After the revolution of 1917, Muravyov lost his entire fortune and all enterprises. I lost it voluntarily, realizing that everything would be taken away soon. He distributed the acquired monasteries - the Holy Dormition Pyukhtitsky, Iversko-Vyksunsky, St. Petersburg Novodevichy, Iversky, Alexander Nevsky Lavra. The family hid in a two-story house in the village of Tyarlevo, located between Tsarskoye Selo and Pavlovsk. Vasily Nikolaevich and Olga Ivanovna understood: the time had come to fulfill the covenant of the elder Barnabas. In the autumn of 1920, with the blessing of Bishop Benjamin, the Muravyovs took monastic vows. Vasily Nikolayevich became a monk Varnava in the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, and Olga Ivanovna became a nun Christina in the Resurrection Novodevichy Convent in Petrograd.

Soon, Brother Barnabas was ordained a hierodeacon and placed in charge of the cemetery office. At that time, murders did not stop in Russia, terror daily brought its victims to the cemetery, the monk Barnabas was destined to constantly see the grief of the relatives and friends of these people. It fell to him to be their comforter.

On September 11, 1921, he was elevated to the rank of hieromonk by Metropolitan Veniamin. The knowledge of commerce came in handy for him now in the position of a candle-maker of the Lavra - after all, he had to become the manager of all the money of the monastery.

Next year brought special grief - the best friend of Hieromonk Barnabas, Bishop Benjamin, accepted martyrdom from the Bolsheviks. Barnabas himself was preparing for close reprisal. The time was such that every minute it was necessary to expect an arrest. But the man of God always maintained an imperturbable calmness. He repeated that everything is given to mankind according to its sins, and one cannot grumble at the will of God.

At the turn of 1926-1927. he accepted the great schema and at the age of sixty became Seraphim in honor of Seraphim of Sarov. From that time on, he became more and more known among the Orthodox people as a good adviser and comforter. Lay people, priests, and monks came to him for spiritual nourishment. There were times when he confessed people for a whole day, or even more. Among the spiritual sons of Elder Seraphim was the one who tonsured him a monk - Archimandrite Nikolai (Yarushevich), who was destined to become in 1941 the Metropolitan of Kyiv and Galicia. Seraphim also became the confessor of Archbishop Alexy (Simansky) of Khutyn, the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Alexy I.

“Try to keep yourself from the snares that are placed outside and inside a person and covered in every possible way with a semblance of truth. They are easily recognized by the fact that they deprive the soul of a peaceful dispensation. Where there is no peace, there are the machinations of the enemy of salvation. From Christ come truth and holy humility. The peace of Christ is the witness of the truth.”

This is how Elder Seraphim taught his spiritual followers: “No matter how much we run from God, we won’t go anywhere anyway! Let us beseech the Lord to keep us faithful to the Holy Orthodox Church.”

Since the end of the 20s. the gift of healing began to manifest itself in the elder Seraphim. Cases were passed from mouth to mouth when he, having anointed the patient with lamp oil, cured him of ailments. Once a woman was brought to the priest, who could not enter the temple in any way - she began to shake so much that she could not even raise her hand for the sign of the cross. Father Seraphim said: "Let's pray together," he led the possessed woman to the icons, put her on her knees, and stood next to her himself. After praying, he anointed her forehead with oil from the lamp. The unfortunate woman began to writhe, her cries began to resemble the barking of a dog. The elder covered her with a stole and read prayers for a long time until the patient calmed down. From that time on, the possession ended, the healed woman completely forgot about her recent possession.

Many other cases of healing through the prayers of the elder are known. And every time he demanded that they thank not him, but Seraphim of Sarov, for with his help these miracles are performed.

One of the most famous prophecies of Elder Seraphim is dedicated to Russia: “Now the time has come for repentance and confession.

The Lord Himself determined the punishment for the Russian people for sins, and until the Lord Himself has mercy on Russia, it is pointless to go against His holy will. A gloomy night will cover the Russian land for a long time, much suffering and sorrow awaits us ahead.

That is why the Lord teaches us: “By your patience save your souls” (Luke 21:19). We can only trust in God and beg His forgiveness.”

A thunderstorm will pass over the Russian land,
The Lord will forgive the Russian people their sins.
And the holy cross of divine beauty
On the temples of God it will again shine brightly.

And the ringing of bells throughout our Holy Rus'
From sinful sleep to salvation will awaken,
The holy cloisters will be opened again,
And faith in God will unite everyone.

He wrote these poems in 1939.

Having reached the age of 64, Elder Seraphim began to get sick - intercostal neuralgia, rheumatism, blockage of the veins in the legs, congestion in the lungs and heart failure. Doctors advised me to change my place of residence, they recommended moving to Vyritsa, a climatic resort. Metropolitan Seraphim (Chichagov), who in the world had the profession of a doctor, got acquainted with the conclusion of the medical commission and immediately blessed the move. The humble confessor of the Lavra could only accept this as an obedience. Together with him, in 1930, his ex-wife, and now schema-nun Seraphim, and granddaughter Margarita, who became a novice of the Voskresensky Novodevichy Convent, went to Vyritsa.

From the time of the move, Elder Seraphim stopped going to doctors, perceiving his ailments as a necessary test, and yet he experienced severe suffering from blockage of the veins - his legs hurt and sometimes were taken away. But he said: “Illness is a school of humility, where you truly know your weakness ...” One involuntarily recalls “Selected passages from correspondence with friends” by Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol, his article on diseases: “Oh! How we need illnesses!.. Not to mention the fact that health itself, which constantly pushes a Russian person to some kind of leaps and a desire to show off his qualities in front of others, would make me do a thousand stupid things ... If there weren’t such painful suffering, where I wouldn't get carried away now! What a significant person he imagines himself to be!.. Accept every ailment humbly, believing in advance that it is needed. Pray to God only that its wondrous meaning and all the depth of its lofty meaning will be revealed to you.”

One of the constant teachings of Elder Seraphim was that there is no need to ask God for anything other than the fulfillment of the will of the Most High, for the Lord himself knows what to send down to us.

Archbishop Nikolai (Yarushevich) of Peterhof was a regular visitor to Vyritsa. By the beginning of the 40s. he headed the Ukrainian Church, became the archbishop of Volyn and Lutsk, and then the metropolitan of Kyiv and Galicia. It is hard to imagine, but in 1941 only four metropolitans remained - Patriarchal Locum Tenens, Metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomna Sergiy (Stragorodsky), Metropolitan of Leningrad and Novgorod Alexy (Simansky), Metropolitan of Kiev and Galicia Nikolay (Yarushevich) and Metropolitan of Vilna and Lithuania Sergiy (Voskresensky ), and the latter, after the occupation of Riga by the Germans, ended up in the occupied territory.

Be that as it may, Bishop Nicholas considered Stalin a great leader, capable of leading the country to victory over fascism. In 1944, he wrote: “In our leader, believers, together with the whole country, know the greatest of the people that our country gave birth to, who combined in his person all the qualities of our Russian heroes and great commanders of the past mentioned above; they see the embodiment of all the best and brightest that constitutes the sacred spiritual heritage of the Russian people, bequeathed by their ancestors: it inextricably combined into a single image fiery love for the Motherland and the people, the deepest wisdom, the strength of a courageous, unshakable spirit and a fatherly heart. As in a military leader, brilliant military skills merged in him with the strongest will to win ... The name of Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin, surrounded by the greatest love of all the peoples of our country, is the banner of glory, prosperity, greatness of our Motherland. It is likely that Vladyka Nikolai instilled this confidence in Elder Seraphim. And during the war, being in occupation, the Vyritsky elder did not stop encouraging people with assurances that the enemy would be defeated and victory would be ours.

It is customary to be surprised that in his entire life Seraphim Vyritsky was never repressed, was not subjected to arrests, beatings, did not end up in camps. But in the first year of the war, Elder Seraphim suffered great grief - the Bolsheviks killed his son! And this is worse than any repression! For a loving parent, there is nothing more terrible than the death of his children.

Nikolai Vasilyevich Muravyov was born in 1895. Being a student of the law faculty of St. Petersburg University, in 1914, as a true patriot, he volunteered for the war, served in an aviation company, and was shell-shocked. The hardest blow for his father was that Nikolai deliberately converted from Orthodoxy to Catholicism. As a result, his life was somehow absurd - he tried to go to Yudenich, failed, began to serve in the Red Army. Married, daughter Margarita was born, but the marriage broke up. I wanted to run abroad, but fell in love with a pop artist. As a result, he stayed in Russia and remarried. Then daughter Olga was born, but this marriage soon broke up. Nikolai was arrested on a fabricated case, and the artist's wife left with her daughter Olga for another artist. After his release, Nikolai married for the third time, his son Alexander was born. His wife and son settled in Vyritsa not far from the house where Father Seraphim lived with Mother Seraphim and Nikolai's first daughter, Margarita ... And Nikolai got himself a fourth wife, with whom he lived illegally; she bore him a son, named in Catholic Ermingeld. It is surprising that, being the son of such a beacon of Orthodoxy, Nikolai Vasilyevich remained a staunch Catholic! In January 1941, when he decided to visit his legitimate family, Nikolai was arrested. And relatives did not know anything about his future fate. And he was shot in Yekaterinburg (Sverdlovsk) on September 4, 1941. A man who could again defend his Fatherland. After all, he was only 46 years old.

The family of Nicholas remained to live in Vyritsa under the elder Seraphim. His granddaughter Margarita, a strong-willed and courageous girl, became his real assistant. She has repeatedly blocked the road to uninvited guests, unwanted visitors. Once she told the Chekists: “I won’t let her in!”, And they did not dare to use force against her. But Margarita immediately distinguished those who really needed the support of her grandfather.

Everyone who came to Vyritsa was surprised by the peculiar manner in which Elder Seraphim communicated with people. He loved to kiss, hug, stroke a person, touch him with his forehead, that is, he behaved the way we usually behave with children, especially when they need to be consoled.

Others brought donations to him, which he then transferred either to the Pyukhtitsky Monastery or to the Kazan Church of Vyritsa.

“Yes, how will I look before the Lord if I leave the money to myself! he said. - If you have a ruble in your wallet, give it to the poor, leaving a penny for yourself, and you will never have money transferred. Let's not regret, then God will reward you! You will regret and grumble - you will lose the last ... "

The memories of people have left us evidence of the great asceticism that Elder Seraphim Vyritsky placed upon himself. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, he ate nothing at all, on other days he drank tea with bread or ate one potato and a little grated carrot, and sometimes he was content with only prosphora and water. The priests of the Kazan Church came daily to commune him. .

Among the visitors to Vyritsa there were many world-famous scientists. Contrary to Soviet propaganda, which presented, for example, Academician Pavlov as a complete atheist, Ivan Petrovich remained a deeply religious person until the end of his days. He was terribly worried about the destruction of temples and tried to fight against this in a somewhat naive way, which seemed to him ingenious: Pavlov assured the Bolsheviks that after some time scientists would prove that there was no God, and then it would be possible to destroy temples. He hoped thereby to win time, and there, you see, times will change. So, Ivan Petrovich was a constant guest of Seraphim, including coming to Vyritsa.

Other luminaries of science also came to him - academician of astronomy Sergei Pavlovich Glazenap, professor of pharmacology Mikhail Ivanovich Gramenitsky, homeopathic professor Sergei Serapionovich Favorsky, academician Vladimir Aleksandrovich Fok, known for his works in the field of quantum mechanics and the theory of relativity, academician of biology Leon Abgarovich Orbeli.

There were other visitors as well. The Chekists came to Vyritsa several times, and once with the clear intention of arresting the elder. But Seraphim “tamed” them in his own way - he affectionately addressed the chief Chekist by name, and he, struck by the light of the elder’s eyes, abandoned his intention to make an arrest.

Until the end of his days, Elder Seraphim did not stop performing miracles of healing. Through his prayers, people were healed even from blindness and mental insanity. He healed, as we have already noted, the demoniac.

In the autumn of 1941, the Germans occupied Vyritsa. From that time on, the elder began to pray with even greater zeal for the salvation of Russia, standing idle for many hours on a stone, like Seraphim of Sarov. According to the recollections of the grandchildren, “in the garden, behind the house, about fifty meters away, a granite boulder protruded from the ground, in front of which a small apple tree grew. It was on this stone that Fr. Seraphim. He was led by the arms to the place of prayer, and sometimes they were simply carried. An icon was strengthened on the apple tree, and grandfather stood on a stone with his sore knees and stretched out his hands to the sky ... What did it cost him! Apparently, the Lord Himself helped him, but it was impossible to look at all this without tears. We repeatedly begged him to leave this feat - after all, it was possible to pray in the cell, but in this case he was merciless both to himself and to us.

Romanian soldiers were stationed in Vyritsa, subordinate to German officers. One day the Germans came to talk to Father Seraphim. When he was a merchant, he had a lot of dealings with the Germans and Austrians, he was excellent at German and willingly agreed to talk.

And just as in the Time of Troubles, the Monk Irinarch of Rostov predicted the imminent death of the Poles who came to him, so Elder Seraphim boldly declared to the German captain, who asked if he would soon march along Palace Square: “This will never happen.”

Moreover, he predicted the death of the captain himself, saying that, hastily retreating under the onslaught of the Russian army, he would lay down his head near Warsaw. In 1980, a Romanian officer who served under this captain will come to Vyritsa to bow to the grave of the elder Seraphim and tell that the elder's prediction has completely come true.

As soon as Vyritsa was liberated from the Nazis, Metropolitan Alexy (Simansky) came to visit Elder Seraphim, and he predicted his imminent patriarchate. And so it happened: on February 2, 1945, he became the new Patriarch, Alexy I.

In the same victorious year of 1945, her faithful wife, schema-nun Seraphim (Olga Ivanovna Muravyova), died. The elder bequeathed to bury himself next to her. It was an amazing Christian marriage, similar to the marriage of the holy righteous Peter and Fevronia. They loved each other, gave birth to children, then took a monastic vow and stayed together as brother and sister until the end of their lives ...

IN last years the old man almost did not get out of bed, so much illness overcame him. On April 3, 1949, with the words “Save, Lord, and have mercy on the whole world,” he passed into eternal life, leaving a temporary earthly vale. During the funeral, one of the four pupils of theological schools who were honored to stand at the tomb of the great elder was Alexei Ridiger - the future Patriarch Alexy II. And half a century later, during his Patriarchate, in 2000, Elder Seraphim Vyritsky was canonized as a saint of Russian Orthodox Church.

Among the prophecies of the elder Seraphim there are also about future times, which seem to be already coming:

“The time will come when not persecution, but money and the charms of this world will turn people away from God and many more souls will perish than in times of open rebellion. On the one hand, they will erect crosses and gild domes, and on the other hand, the kingdom of lies and evil will come.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, at the celebrations dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the death of Elder Seraphim, said this about him: “Fateful events in the life of our family always took place with the blessing of Seraphim Vyritsky, therefore the memory of the reverend is always kept in our family. I always prayed to him in difficult moments of life. Why did the Monk Seraphim Vyritsky become a saint? Why do so many come to his grave? Because he corrected people with a spirit of meekness.”
